Durable, trusty ol' gamepad January 26, 2003 Carlos Santiago (Virginia, USA) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
I own this controller since the days of Windows 95 and still use it sporadically in these days of Windows XP. This gamepad connects to the PC's game port instead of a USB port. I also own a Sidewinder USB joystick and they work together very well. When I get tired of using one control I grab the other one and start playing. There is no Joystick 1 or 2 on the PC, most games respond to the input of any control connected as long as it is configured in Control Panel. This gamepad has 10 buttons, still more than enough for current games. The layout is similar to the Super Nintendo and N64 controllers. It includes the L and R button equivalents but it doesn't provide an analog stick. I use this gamepad mostly for emulated arcade games and for playing Super Nintendo and N64 emulated games on the PC. The gamepad includes driver and configuration software compatible with Windows 95, 98 and ME. In my case, Windows XP recognizes the gamepad without the need for this software, I believe Windows 2000 should be the same. Although is a bit old, and maybe outdated for some game purists, this gamepad still works with current technology (as of this writing) and it is cheap enough to consider it a good choice for those of us who only do casual gaming. I also recommend it if you don't want to take up a precious USB port on your PC. Five stars
*BEST* controller ever made. March 8, 2003 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This has to be the best game controller ever made for the PC.It has plenty of buttons and everything else. Works great with every version of Windows from 95 to XP! Best Feature: Daisy Chaining I currently have 4 of these, and they are all plugged into my single joystick/midi port! I normally use these for EA sports titles, and with 4, I can have 4 people playing at once! If you buy one, you will not regret it!
Best Gamepad I've Come Across March 9, 2004 I owned this gamepad for years now and it's the best in the biz. It always seemed ironic to me that with such reliable reference designs (sega genesis 6-button, PS2 dual shock), companies couldn't make a decent PC gamepad. Well, here it is-- for those of you loving emulators at least-- and I'm gonna pay through the nose to get the mysteriously discontinued USB version for my laptop.
Wowo!! So good! March 25, 2004 THis is the best controller I ever used, I play infantry with a name 2xtremz[-4jd-] , and Sectoid plays with one too. We both find it the best thign to play with. We r the 2 best players in Infantry now. No Lies!~~ This works great with any internet game bette than any other Sidewinder Model. BUY IT!!!
